Event Opal Gear Review

EVENT OPALS

We Boost the DB have been working with the Event Opals for a few months with gigantic smiles on our faces. What a pleasure it is to be referencing music through these powerful clear monitors.

Without question these speakers have cut our mixing & mastering time in-half. I do not know how we managed before. The sound is extremely wide with very undistorted high end. Their massive bass sound rumbles with warm tone without overwhelming any other frequencies. If there is something wrong with your mix you can pin point where it is and fix it with surgical precision in the first reference through a song.

The Event Opals are work horses, 12 hour mixing sessions with no tire or worry. Forget a space heater, these speakers remain at room temperature by releasing all warm air. Makes for a sweaty session some nights, but a safe and happy speaker (Who doesn't want a little steam to their studio :P)

We have an A - B monitor setup, the Opals are towering over two powered Yamaha's. When flipping back & forth between the two it is plain as the color grey to hear that there is some technology in the Opals that alien planets want to get their hands on. Even in volume alone; Opals at 1/4 volume while the Yamaha's will need to be at 3/4 volume to even attempt a comparison.

When recording hip-hop artists, as soon as they hear their kick sounding this good they almost jump out the window with excitement.

Indie artists nearly melt with large water eyes when hearing their voice cutting through the wall of band sound with no distortion at all.

Referencing rock, hardcore, acoustic, hip hop, trance to blues music the Event Opals will make your engineering & producing job no longer feel like a 'job' at all.

It is safe to say we are never going to regret our purchase.

The same day we got the Opals we also purchased AKG 702 headphones.
